Welcome!

We’re glad you’re here.  Pull up a chair and grab a cup of coffee.  Let’s relax and catch up a little.

Things have been exciting on campus, to say the least.  This year we, once again, set the record for the number of incoming freshmen enrolled with over 5,000 students.  That brings our total enrollment to over 27,000 undergraduate and graduate students.  You can imagine what that’s done for parking around here!  We’re working on it, though.  Next fall we’re opening two more sections of Ridgecrest (one of the new apartment-style communities) and there will be a parking garage attached.  Next time you come to town, you’ll have to check it out.  You’ll see the construction over near Paty Hall.  That’s right, Paty’s still standing!

And then there’s football.  What a season!  Who would have guessed after last season that we would end the regular season undefeated and ranked number one in the nation?  And I think we’re all still gloating after that Auburn shutout, breaking our six year streak of losses.  Not only that, but we defeated the Tigers for the first time ever in Bryant Denny Stadium!  Could that victory have been any sweeter?  I guess if our winning streak was going to be broken by someone, at least they turned out to be the National Champions.  And let’s all just try to forget about that Sugar Bowl.

We’re all back from Spring Break and the tulips have been planted.  Campus looks amazing and we’ll try to get some pictures up for you soon.  Now everyone’s focused on trying to finish strong this semester.

Well, that’s a start.  What else would you like to hear about?  And what about you?  We’d love to hear about what’s been happening in your life, too.

Iron Bowl Trophy

Check out this video from half-time at the basketball game against Auburn. It’s nice to have the trophy home where it belongs. Make sure to listen to the end when the announcer reminds us of the final score of the game.
